Stillness Echoes(2025)

Placid, fragile, and inconspicuous, plants flourish in their own way, a world apart from our radar.

They echo in summer breezes and howling winds, tilting graceful waves with murmurs and stories, never repeating the same movement twice.

Compelling to gaze upon when magnified, these tiny twists, tips, folds, and loops—a sculptural practice of wilderness, like lees that settle in wine or the very sensation of pulsing under thin skin—evoke a yearning for wonder and contemplation.

Never wanting to blink, fearing the loss of any sight, you find that if you gaze long enough, the idea of truly seeing becomes justified, and all of a sudden, they pause for a millisecond, just for you.

Is it not the most satisfying feeling?

Following Rusty Fox’s last photobook, Nocturnal (2023), Stillness Echoes is both a continuation and an alternation. The handmade Risography photobook in A3 format invites readers to immerse themselves in the movements and echoes of urban nature. The almost graphic yet poetic images, with details presented in the grainy softness of Risography, reveal layers of emotion and a murmur-like flow conveyed through the photographs.
